Upgrading Your Home Entrance

It may require little work compared to other home improvement projects, but upgrading the look of your entrance can do wonders for your house. Since this is the first thing that visitors see, then you should make an effort to improve its appeal.

First, survey the front door for any chipped paint or whether it requires a retouch or minor repairs. Should you need to apply a new shade on it, opt for warm tones. But pick a colour that would blend well with the rest of the house. You would need to replace hinges or knobs if they look worn out as well. If the condition is irreparable, then you could replace the entire thing instead.

Second, improve on the floor of that area. Opt to use hardwood or tile flooring because they are aesthetically appealing and are easier to care for as well. Remove the carpet if you have placed one there. Since it is the main entryway, the rug could easily get dirt on it.

Third, add the appropriate lighting option. A long chandelier would look perfect if your home has a high ceiling. Otherwise, use a flushed fixture with designs on the cover. Keep the lighting soft rather than overly bright.

Finally, accentuate it with decorations. You can place an artwork or a large mirror that can draw the eye as you are coming in. You may also place a table near it with a vase of flowers on top of it.
